Plant characters:
Eucommia ulmoides is a deciduous tree with a height of 20 meters and a diameter at breast height of about 50 cm.
Bark gray brown, rough, containing rubber, broken open, with many filaments. The young branch has yellowish brown hair, soon becomes bald, and the old branch has obvious lenticels. The spore is ovoid, shiny outside, reddish brown, with 6-8 scales and micro hairs on the edge.
Leaves elliptic, ovate or oblong, thin leathery, 6-15 cm long and 3.5-6.5 cm wide. Female flowers solitary, bracts obovate, pedicel 8 mm long, ovary glabrous, 1-locular, flat and long, apex 2-lobed, ovary stalk very short. Samara flat, oblong, 3-3.5 cm long, 1-1.3 cm wide, apex 2-lobed, base cuneate, with thin wings around.
